| Terephthalic acid (PTA) is one of the important bulk organic raw materials, which is widely used in various aspects of the national economy such as chemical fibres, light industry, electronics and construction. At the same time, the application of PTA and more concentrated, more than 90% of the world's PTA for the production of polyethylene terephthalate (referred to as polyester, PET). The production of 1 tonne of PET requires 0.85-0.86 tonnes of PTA and 0.33-0.3Chemicalbook4 tonnes of MEG (ethylene glycol). Polyester includes fibre chips, polyester fibres, bottle chips and film chips. In the domestic market, 75% of PTA is used in the production of polyester fibre; 20% is used in the production of bottle-grade polyester, which is mainly applied to the packaging of various beverages, especially carbonated beverages; and 5% is used in film-grade polyester, which is mainly applied to packaging materials, films and tapes. 1. Performance and use:
White needle-like crystal or powder. Soluble in alkali solution, slightly soluble in hot ethanol, insoluble in water, ether, glacial acetic acid and chloroform.
Important raw material for the manufacture of polyester resin, film, fibre, insulating paint and engineering plastics etc.
Most of the product is used in the production of polyethylene terephthalate (polyester), which is an important raw material for polyester fibre, film, plastic products, insulating varnish and plasticizers, and is also used in the production of pharmaceuticals, dyes and other products.
Used as a reagent for chromatographic analysis
Used in the manufacture of synthetic resins, acid fibres and plasticisers, etc.
