Diacetamide is a colorless needle-like crystal or pale brown shiny flake-like substance with a sweet taste. Its melting point is 125°C, and its boiling point is 287°C (Chemicalbook), but it decomposes slightly at this temperature. Diacetylimide is easily soluble in water, alcohol, or sodium hydroxide solutions, but it is insoluble in ether and cannot dissolve in chloroform.
