 Applications 

1. Precursor For On Site Chlorine Dioxide Generation: Activated with acid or chlorine, it releases chlorine dioxide at the point of use for municipal water treatment and industrial disinfection, and chlorine dioxide does not form trihalomethanes from organic contaminants the way chlorine does.

2. Bleaching And Stripping In Pulp, Paper And Textiles: The main industrial outlet is chlorine dioxide generation for bleaching and stripping pulp, paper and textile fibres, where it is described as a highly efficient bleaching agent and oxidative disinfectant for textile, fibre, pulp and paper mills.

3. Sanitation For Food Contact Surfaces And Produce Washing: Mixed with a food grade acid it forms acidified sodium chlorite, used as a wash or rinse for red meat, poultry, seafood, fruit and vegetables and for sanitising hard surfaces that contact food, and the chlorine dioxide it generates is approved by the FDA under certain conditions for water used to wash fruits, vegetables and poultry.

4. Odour Control And Air Handling Sanitation: It is used to sanitise air ducts, HVAC and refrigeration systems and animal containment areas, where chlorine dioxide acts on odour and biofilm sources in the ductwork and on surfaces instead of masking them.
