Industrial Grade
1. Battery Manufacturing
Alkaline Batteries: In the AA and AAA alkaline batteries we use daily, a high-concentration potassium hydroxide aqueous solution is used as the electrolyte. Compared to traditional carbon-zinc batteries, it provides a more stable voltage and a larger current output.
Storage Batteries: In nickel-cadmium batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries, and some silver-zinc batteries, it also serves as the electrolyte, responsible for conducting ions between the positive and negative electrodes.
2. Soap and Daily Chemical Industry - Liquid Soap and Shower Gel: Potassium hydroxide undergoes a saponification reaction with fatty acids (such as coconut oil and palm oil), producing "potassium fatty acid salts," which have a much higher solubility in water than sodium salts. Therefore, it is a core raw material for producing soft soaps and liquid soaps such as hand soap, shower gel, liquid laundry detergent, and shaving cream.
3. Potassium Fertilizer and High-Efficiency Liquid Fertilizer: Potassium hydroxide is often used to produce highly soluble neutral or weakly alkaline liquid fertilizers, which are convenient for absorption by modern agricultural drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation systems.
Food Grade: Food Additives, Acidity Regulators
1. Cocoa Bean Processing (Alkalization Process): In the production of chocolate and cocoa powder, cocoa beans are treated with potassium hydroxide solution (known as the Dutch process). This neutralizes the natural acidity of cocoa, darkening its color, enriching its flavor, and making it more soluble in milk or water.
2. Century Egg (Preserved Egg) Manufacturing: It is the core strong alkaline component in the ingredients (paste or liquid) for pickling century eggs, causing the proteins in the eggs to coagulate.
3. Food Peeling: Used for chemical peeling in the industrial canning of fruits and vegetables (such as peaches, tomatoes, and potatoes).
