| Nickel chloride hexahydrate is essentially a hydrate of NiCl2, and the compound adopts a CdCl2-type structure in which each Ni is coordinated to six Cl, and each Cl is coordinately bonded to three Ni. In NiCl2, the Ni-Cl bonds are characterized by ionic bonding. The yellow NiBr2 and the black NiI2 adopt a similar structure, but due to the different filling of the halogen atoms, these two nickel halides adopt a CdI2-type structure. In contrast, NiCl2-6H2O contains trans-[NiCl2(H2O)4] units and water molecules. ApplicationsNickel chloride hexahydrate is green or grass green monoclinic prismatic crystalline at room temperature and pressure, it is a nickel salt derivative, often used as a nickel catalyst in organic synthesis is mostly used to catalyze organic chemical reactions. In fine chemical production, the chemical can be used as an anode activator in rapid nickel plating for chemical nickel plating. Nickel chloride hexahydrate is also used in the field of materials science, such as the preparation of metallic nickel nanoparticles, the preparation of nickel hydroxide nanowires, and the synthesis of metal-organic frameworks. | |||||||||

1. Performance and use:
Green or grass green monoclinic prismatic crystal. Relative density 1.921, melting point 80℃. Soluble in water, ethanol, its aqueous solution is slightly acidic. Easily weathered in dry air, easily deliquesced in humid air. When heated to above 140℃, it completely loses water of crystallization and becomes yellowish brown powder.
Used in electroplating nickel, as an anode activator in rapid nickel plating, used as ammonia absorber in industry or gas mask. Used in the manufacture of catalysts, dry batteries. Used in the manufacture of catalysts and dry batteries, and in the manufacture of invisible ink.
Used in electroplating, also can be used as anticorrosive agent and ammonia absorber for nickel plating, manufacture of invisible ink.
