Manganese chloride CAS 7773-01-5

Manganese chloride is a pink semi-transparent irregular large crystal. The crystals have two forms: the α form is more stable and belongs to the monoclinic columnar crystal; the β form is unstable and belongs to the monoclinic plate-like crystal. The relative density is 2.01 g/cm³. The melting point is 650℃. The boiling point is 1190℃. It has hygroscopicity and is prone to deliquescence. At 106℃, one molecule of crystalline water is lost, and at 200℃, all the crystalline water is lost to form an anhydrous substance. When heated in air, the anhydrous substance decomposes and releases HCl, generating Mn₃O₄. It is easily soluble in water at room temperature, and extremely soluble in hot water. It dissolves in ethanol and does not dissolve in ether.
