Inhibitor 510 is an important analytical reagent that forms water-insoluble precipitates with copper, iron, aluminum, titanium, etc., and is a complex that can be extracted by organic solvents such as chloroform and ethyl acetate. It is primarily used as a precipitant for precipitation separation or weighing analysis; it can also be used as an extractant for extraction separation or photometric analysis, such as for separating copper and iron from other metal ions; for determining iron by precipitation from strong acid solutions; for quantitative determination of vanadates (forming a deep red precipitate); for quantitative determination of titanium (forming a yellow precipitate); and for colorimetric determination of aluminum.
