| Hyaluronic acid is a white amorphous solid, odorless and tasteless, and hygroscopic. It is soluble in water but insoluble in organic solvents. The specific rotation of its aqueous solution is -70° to 80°. Its most prominent feature is its high viscosity. The viscosity of its solution can irreversibly decrease under the following conditions: pH value below or above 7; presence of hyaluronidase; presence of many reducing substances such as cysteine, pyrogallic acid, or heavy metal ions; (4) ultraviolet radiation, electron beam irradiation, etc. | |||||||||
