| Glucosamine, abbreviated as glucosamine, has the chemical formula C6H13NO5. It is a natural amino monosaccharide and is an essential substance for the synthesis of proteoglycans in the matrix of human articular cartilage. It was the first natural amino monosaccharide with a confirmed structure [1]. GlcN is a derivative formed by replacing the hydroxyl group (-OH) on the α carbon atom of the aldehyde group (-COH) in the glucose molecule with an amino group (-NH2). Glucosamine is widely found in animal cartilage and the shells of crustaceans. For example, there is a small amount of free glucosamine in human milk, but most of it exists in the form of acetylamino groups. In medicine, glucosamine is widely used to treat arthritis, regulate the body's immune function, and has antioxidant, antiseptic, and antibacterial properties. | |||||||||
