Ginger oil CAS 8007-08-7

Ginger oil is a pale yellow to yellow liquid. Fresh ginger oil is of much higher quality than dried ginger oil. It has a distinctive odor and pungent taste, with the characteristic aroma of ginger. Its density is 0.877-0.888. Its refractive index is 1.488-1.494 (20℃). Its optical rotation is -28° to 45°. Its saponification value is ≤20. It is insoluble in water, glycerin, and ethylene glycol, but soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform, mineral oil, and most animal and vegetable oils. It is mainly used in the formulation of edible flavorings, various alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, and candies, and also in perfumes and other cosmetics.
Besides its medicinal uses, ginger oil can be used as a seasoning in stir-fries, cold dishes, and various foods; it is also used for health purposes, having appetite-stimulating, warming, and antibacterial effects. It can also be used as a flavoring agent in alcoholic beverages and cosmetics.
