1. Performance and use:
Colourless flammable liquid. Has a pleasant butyl odour. Soluble in water, ethanol, ether, oils and many organic solvents.
Used as a solvent for nitrocellulose, varnish, printing ink, oils, resins and intermediates for synthetic plastics.
Diethylene glycol butyl ether is mainly used as a solvent for paints, dyes, resins, etc. It is also used as an intermediate in plasticisers and as a diluent for hydraulic brake fluids, and is also used to produce piperonyl butoxy compounds. The oral LD50 of this product is 6560mg/kg for rats.
Solvent for nitrocellulose, varnish, printing ink, oils and resins. Plastic intermediate. Used in surfactant analysis
