Calcium chloride CAS 10043-52-4
Application Scenarios:
Industrial Grade / Drying Grade:
1. High-end industrial and household desiccants: It is the core ingredient in various high-efficiency moisture-absorbing boxes, moisture-proof hanging bags, and container desiccants on the market. Its water absorption capacity and rate far exceed ordinary silica gel, capable of reducing the relative humidity in enclosed environments to extremely low levels.
2. Petrochemical gas-liquid dehydration: Used in oil refineries and chemical plants to remove trace amounts of moisture from organic solvents such as hydrocarbons, ethers, and esters; also used for ultra-drying industrial gases such as nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, and sulfur dioxide.
3. Ultra-low temperature snow melting and antifreeze: Although calcium chloride dihydrate can melt snow, in extremely cold regions, its exothermic reaction is insufficient. In such cases, anhydrous calcium chloride must be used, utilizing the enormous heat released during its dissolution to rapidly break the ice.
Food Grade:
1. Molecular gastronomy and colloid solidification: In modern molecular gastronomy and food processing (such as the manufacture of "artificial jellyfish skin" and "bursting sodium alginate caviar"), anhydrous calcium chloride is commonly used to prepare high-purity calcium ion reaction baths. Its ion release is rapid and does not introduce water of crystallization, allowing for precise control of the thickness and brittleness of the cured layer.
2. Dairy and food packaging for mold prevention and drying: Food-grade desiccant packets used inside packaging boxes for high-end health products and baked goods to prevent food from absorbing moisture and softening during its shelf life.
3. High-concentration tissue hardening agent: In some high-end canned fruits and vegetables (such as export-grade crispy cucumbers and high-end pickled vegetables), it is used as a highly efficient hardening agent. Because the dosage is less than that of dihydrate, the osmotic pressure of the process formulation can be controlled more precisely.
