| Betulinic acid is a pentacyclic triterpenoid compound widely present in the natural world. It was first isolated from the bark of evergreen plants in the Rhamnaceae family that grow in eastern Africa, but its main source is extracted and purified from the bark of birch trees. In recent years, scientific research has found that BA is a highly valuable natural product. BA and its derivatives have shown great potential as biologics in the treatment of cancer and HIV, playing an important role in the body's antioxidant damage and immune regulation processes. They are a class of promising drug lead compounds with significant value for the development of new drugs. The American Cancer Institute (NCI) has included them in the Rapid Development Program (RAID). | |||||||||
