| Betaine is a type of alkaloid widely present in the bodies of animals and plants. Its chemical name is N, N, N-trimethylglycine, and its chemical structure is similar to glycine. It belongs to the quaternary ammonium alkaloid class and its molecular formula is C5H11NO2. It was first discovered in sugar beets in the 19th century and mainly exists in the sugar syrup of sugar beets, hence the name. Research has found that betaine can be used alone or in combination with bortezomib for the treatment of multiple myeloma (MM). It has an inhibitory effect on the progression of multiple myeloma and is of great significance for basic research and clinical treatment of multiple myeloma [1]. | |||||||||
