| Dibenzoyl, also known as 1,2-diphenyl-1,2-ethyldione, can form metal ion complexes through coordination with metal ions such as silver, thorium, nickel, barium, and uranium. It can also be used as a fine chemical intermediate to synthesize products with special functions, such as photosensitizers and insecticides. Its molecule contains two highly reactive functional carbonyl groups, which can easily react with certain substances. Therefore, it has a wide range of applications in organic chemistry, materials chemistry, and medicine. It is an important raw material for the synthesis of benzoin ketone photosensitizers. Benzoin dimethyl ether can be prepared by benzoyl ketolation, and the photosensitizer synthesized by this method has the characteristic of high photo initiation rate. It is also a necessary intermediate for the synthesis of antiepileptic drugs such as phenytoin and its derivatives. | |||||||||
