Barium stearate CAS 6865-35-6
Availability:
Barium stearate is also known as "barium octadecate", chemical formula Ba(C18H35O2)2. Molecular weight 704.13. Fine white powder. Melting point 160℃, relative density 1.15. Insoluble in water, insoluble in cold ethanol, soluble in hot ethanol, benzene, toluene and other non-polar solvents, dissolved in organic solvents after heating and cooling into a gel. Strong acids decompose into stearic acid and corresponding barium salts. It absorbs water in the air. Preparation method: Stearic acid and barium carbonate or barium hydroxide, or sodium stearate solution and dilute barium chloride solution to prepare. Can be used as waterproof products, alkali pump filler, can also be used as machine high temperature lubricant, filler; Polyvinyl chloride and other plastics light, heat stabilizer, rubber products of high temperature powder mold agent. Barium stearate is toxic, the toxicity coefficient T=2, the typical symptoms of poisoning are vomiting, abdominal pain, dysentery, blood pressure rise, pulse disorder, etc.
Alias: Barium bis(stearate);Bis(octadecanoic acid)barium salt;Einecs 229-966-3;Octadecanoic acid, barium salt (2:1);barium distearate;BARIUM STEARATE;octadecanoic acid barium salt;STEARIC ACID BARIUM SALT
Molecular formula: C36H70BaO4
Relative molecular mass: 704.27
Structural formula:
1. Performance and use:
Waterproofing agent; lubricant in metalworking, plastics, and rubber; wax compounding; preparation of greases; heat and light stabilizer in plastics.
Barium stearate is not generally used as a stabilizer, but is an important film-calendering lubricant.
It is generally used in conjunction with other stabilizers such as Cadmium Stearate and Lead Stearate.
It can be used as a flatting and sanding agents in lacquers, coatings and inks and as a drying lubricant for rubbers. Barium stearate is used in dry - salt fire extinguishers to prevent caking.

3. Safety protection
Moderately toxic by ingestion. When heated to decomposition it emits acrid smoke andfumes.
Higher main content and lower impurity levels; batch-to-batch stability; better solubility, particle size, and flowability, facilitating downstream processes.
Quality system advantages:
Certification list - ISO 9001, REACH registration number, FDA, Kosher, Halal; each batch comes with a COA, supporting third-party testing (SGS, etc.); full traceability.
Supply chain advantages:
Own factory/integrated production; annual production capacity is at full capacity, with plans to expand production; some stock is available for immediate delivery; delivery time is clear.
