| Centella asiatica (L) Urban, a plant in the Umbelliferae family, is a dry whole plant or rooted whole plant. It is also known as Thunder Root, Horseshoe Grass, or Luo De Da, and can be harvested all year round. It is abundant in resources and grows in tropical regions of Southeast Asia, Australia, South Africa, and Central Africa. It has a long history of application in the field of medicine in many countries. Snow grass is cold in nature and bitter in taste. It has the effects of clearing heat and dampness, detoxifying and reducing swelling. It is mainly used for damp heat jaundice, heatstroke diarrhea, abscess and ulcer toxicity, and injuries caused by falls. Asiaticoside belongs to the pentacyclic triterpenoid class of compounds, which have various pharmacological effects such as anti ulcer, promoting wound healing, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, and immune regulation.
