Potassium bicarbonate CAS 298-14-6
Application Scenarios:
Food Grade:
1. Low-Sodium/Sodium-Free Baked Goods: Traditional baking powders or leavening agents use sodium bicarbonate, which increases the sodium content of food. For people with high blood pressure or those pursuing a low-sodium diet, potassium bicarbonate is used as a leavening agent, allowing bread, cookies, and cakes to rise perfectly while achieving "reduced sodium and supplemented potassium."
2. Acidity Regulator and Wine Acid Reduction: In the winemaking industry, if the grape raw materials are too acidic, potassium bicarbonate is often added to neutralize and reduce the acidity. It reacts with tartaric acid to form potassium bitartrate precipitate, thus improving the taste of the wine without introducing sodium ions.
3. Effervescent Tablets and Solid Beverages: Used in the manufacture of fruit juice powder, carbonated beverages, or effervescent tablets. Upon contact with acidic components such as citric acid, it rapidly releases a large amount of carbon dioxide gas, producing abundant bubbles.
Agricultural Grade: Natural Antifungal Agent
1. Control of Powdery Mildew and Black Spot Disease: After dilution and spraying, potassium bicarbonate can change the pH value and osmotic pressure on the surface of plant leaves, thereby destroying the mycelium and spores of fungi. It has excellent preventative and curative effects against powdery mildew in crops such as roses, grapes, strawberries, and cucumbers.
2. High-efficiency potassium fertilizer: It can also directly provide plants with easily absorbed potassium, promoting fruit enlargement and coloring.
Industrial grade:
1. Drinking water hardness adjustment: In the production process of certain purified or mineral waters, adding trace amounts of potassium bicarbonate can adjust the pH value of the water and improve its taste, making it sweeter.
2. High-grade detergent: As a buffer in liquid detergents, it stabilizes the pH value of the system and provides a gentler washing environment for fabrics and skin.
3. Highly efficient fire extinguishing: Purple K dry powder fire extinguishing agent is mainly composed of potassium bicarbonate. By capturing free radicals in the combustion reaction, it disrupts the chain reaction of combustion, and its fire extinguishing efficiency is more than twice that of traditional sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) dry powder fire extinguishers.
