Food Grade:
1. Food Anti-caking Agent: Commonly added to salt, sugar, milk powder, and powdered seasonings. By absorbing trace amounts of moisture, it prevents the powder from clumping during storage, maintaining its loose and free-flowing nature.
Nutritional Fortifier: As an excellent source of magnesium, it is used to fortify infant formula, sports drinks, and health foods.
Flour Improver: In some baking processes, it can adjust the pH of dough and improve the texture of bread.
Chemical Grade:
1. High-end Cosmetics (Powder, Loose Powder): Due to its lightweight texture, strong oil absorption, and non-toxicity, it is often used in loose powder, talcum powder, and eyeshadow. It absorbs excess facial oil, providing a long-lasting matte finish without clogging pores.
2. High-end Toothpaste Abrasive: With extremely low hardness, it can be added to toothpaste as a gentle abrasive, cleaning teeth without damaging tooth enamel, and also thickening and stabilizing the toothpaste.
Industrial Grade:
1. Thermal and Sound Insulation Materials: Due to its lightweight, porous nature and low thermal conductivity, it is widely used in the manufacture of high-grade thermal insulation materials, insulated pipeline shells, and high-grade sound insulation panels.
2. Glass and Ceramics: In the production of specialty glass and high-grade ceramics, it serves as a source of magnesium oxide, improving the heat resistance and chemical stability of the finished product.
3. Rubber Reinforcing Agent: Used as a filler in natural and synthetic rubber. It improves the abrasion resistance, tensile strength, and elongation of rubber, and is commonly used in the manufacture of high-grade rubber products (such as transparent rubber shoe soles, tire inner tubes, and tapes).
4. Environmentally Friendly Flame Retardant: Basic magnesium carbonate undergoes thermal decomposition at high temperatures, releasing moisture and carbon dioxide, and generating refractory magnesium oxide. This process not only absorbs a large amount of heat to lower the surface temperature but also dilutes flammable gases and isolates oxygen, making it widely used for flame retardancy in plastics, cables, and fire-retardant coatings.
