Industrial Grade:
1. Road Snow Melting and De-icing: In northern winters, it is widely used as a highly efficient snow melting agent for highways, urban roads, and parking lots, melting ice much faster than ordinary table salt.
2. Industrial Dehumidifier and Desiccant: Due to its strong water absorption capacity, it is often made into bulk industrial moisture-proof bags for container shipping moisture protection, warehouse dehumidification, or drying certain gases in the petrochemical industry.
3. Building Cement Accelerator and Antifreeze: In winter construction, adding calcium chloride dihydrate can significantly accelerate the setting and hardening speed of concrete, improve early strength, and prevent mortar from freezing at low temperatures.
4. Mine Dust Control and Road Dust Reduction: Sprayed on coal mines, mine roads, or construction sites, its moisture-absorbing and non-drying properties effectively trap ground dust, providing excellent dust suppression.
Food Grade:
1. Tofu and Dairy Coagulant: In traditional tofu making, it is a commonly used core component of "bitumen" (the coagulant for chemically made tofu or firm tofu), enabling the proteins in soy milk to coagulate quickly. In cheese processing, adding a small amount of food-grade calcium chloride stabilizes the emulsion, helping milk to curdle and solidify better.
2. Fruit and Vegetable Canning Preservative and Hardening Agent: In the canning of fruits and vegetables such as apples, peaches, and cucumbers, the calcium ions in calcium chloride can combine with pectin in plant cell walls to form calcium pectate. This maintains the crisp texture of fruits and vegetables and prevents softening and gelatinization during high-temperature sterilization or long-term storage.
3. Craft Beer Water Conditioning: In beer brewing, it is used to adjust the mineral content (hardness and acidity) of brewing water, providing essential calcium nutrition for yeast and giving beer its unique flavor.
Feed Grade: Primarily used as a mineral supplement in livestock and aquaculture.
1. Calcium Supplementation for Laying Hens and Sows: Added to complete feed for poultry and livestock, it boasts high calcium absorption. In laying hen feed, it significantly enhances eggshell hardness and thickness, reducing soft-shelled eggs and breakage rates.
2. Prevention of Postpartum Paralysis in Dairy Cows: Dairy cows are highly susceptible to acute calcium deficiency (postpartum paralysis) due to excessive lactation after calving. Feed-grade calcium chloride dihydrate is often formulated into oral calcium supplements to quickly replenish free calcium in postpartum dairy cows.
3. Water Hardening Agent in Aquaculture: During the seedling and rearing stages of crustaceans such as shrimp and crabs, excessively soft water and insufficient calcium ions can lead to molting difficulties. Sprinkling feed-grade calcium chloride into ponds increases water hardness, promoting successful molting and growth for shrimp and crabs.
